The Emery County Jr. High Honor Band performed Wednesday evening at the Emery High Auditorium.
Guest conductor Carl Dastrup from Saratoga Springs led the entire band in three numbers; “Spirit of the Sphinx,” “Choral from Jupiter” and “Overture Brilliante.” Introducing these three numbers were outstanding and honorable mention numbers from the recent Solo and Ensemble Festival.
Instrumental solos included Cally Cordner, who played a flute solo “Rondo from Concerto No. 3,” and Andie Curtis playing a flute solo entitled “Canzona.”
Honorable Mention Ensembles – “Calypso Morning” a saxophone trio performed by Daxton Minchey, Kyler Minchey and Baylee Jacobsen,; “Jamaican Holiday,” a mixed quartet of Chewy Sharp. Madisyn Childs, Nya Parkins and Beni Peterson; Flute trio, “Greensleeves” with Arilyn Allred, Kaejha Johnson and Cally Cordner; Flute duet, “Scherzo” performed by Emily Mesler and Kelsey Hulse; French horn solo “Sililiana and Giga” by Kelsey Hulse; French horn solo, “Melodie from Der Freischultz” by Annalyce Rudd; Sydney Stilson played a piano solo “Sonatina op.36″; bass clarinet solo, “Rondo from Concerto No. 3” played by Matthew Hanson; and Hayley Guymon’s piano solo “Eagles Flight.”
