Utah Foster Care once again sponsored its annual Chalk Art Festival by celebrating the 17th event on Saturday, June 15.

During this event, foster fathers from around the state were recognized for their contributions to the lives of children that are in foster care. One such foster father was Castle Country’s own Kirk Sitterud. Kirk and his wife, Karen, have been foster parents in Emery County for over 40 years. During this time, the duo has provided care for over 210 children.

Throughout their time as foster parents, the Sitteruds have assisted in many children returning to their homes and their families. They have also adopted several children that could not safely return to their home environment.

Currently, Kirk and Karen are working to assist children in the system that are awaiting placement with other members of their family.

“The Sitteruds love helping children in our community and have impacted so many lives with their service,” stated Utah Foster Care Lead Foster-Adoptive Consultant Kobi Prettyman.
