Emery Cross Country Does Well on the Road

The Emery High cross country team traveled to South Sevier on Wednesday where the girls earned a second place finish and the boys ended in fourth.

The girls team competed against Snow Canyon, North Sevier and Richfield. Erin Hurst led the team with a finish of 20:19 with Tarryn Parkins next for the Spartans with 23:08. Jacie Huntington, Laura Burke and Valerie Chynoweth all helped round out the second place finish for the Spartans.

The boys ran against Richfield, North Sevier, Snow Canyon and South Sevier. Ty Funk took the lead for the boys and finished with a 18:05. Mckoy Christiansen took second for the Spartans, finishing in 19:22. Alex Stilson, Beau Ivie, Lane Taylor and Daryl Guymon all finished within seconds of one another, capping off the fourth place finish for Emery.

The teams will travel to San Juan for a matchup on Wednesday. The race is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
