The Spartans gathered on Wednesday for a cross country meet against North Sevier, Grand and South Sevier high schools.
Ty Funk took the lead for the boys team, earning third place overall with a time of 17:44. Also topping the charts for Emery were Alex Stilson with an 18:42 finish and Daryl Guymon with 18:45. McKoy Christiansen, Beau Ivie and Tanyon Allred also did well in the competition, earning second place for the Spartans with 55 points, just behind North Sevier.
Erin Hurst eared third place overall for the girls competition, finishing with a time of 20:25. Tarryn Parkins also did well, running a 23:14 while Jacie Huntington earned 23:47. Runners Allyson Woolsey, Laura Burke and Valerie Chynoweth all helped round out second place finish for the girls. The team earned 43 points and placed behind North Sevier.
The cross country team will travel to South Sevier for a competition on Wednesday. The race will begin at 4 p.m.
