Easton Gordon threw a complete game four-hitter Tuesday afternoon as the Emery Spartans kicked of Region 15 action against the Grand Red Devils. Emery won the game 4-1.
Leading 4-0 in the top of the seventh, Gordon retired the first two Red Devils before giving up three consecutive hits that scored the lone run for Grand. Gordon then got the final batter to fly out to left for the win.
Kyson Stilson drew a walk to begin the first inning for Emery. After a passed ball allowed Stilson to get to second, Gordon then doubled to left, scoring the first run of the game. After a Jesse Barnett walk loaded the bases, Rance Jensen then grounded out to short, plating Koda Alton who walked earlier in the inning.
Emery added another run in the bottom of the third after a bases loaded walk, drawn by Brax Jensen, increased the Spartan lead.
Rance Jensen singled down the left field line in the bottom of the fifth, plating Barnett who doubled right before Jensen, rounding out the scoring for the Spartans.
Gordon went 2-4 with a double and a single and an RBI. Rance Jensen had two RBIs in the game, going 1-3. Barnett continued his hot start to the season with 2-3 showing, including a double. Alton scored two of Emery’s four runs in the game.
