Emery Defeats North Sanpete and Secures Third Place In State Tourney*Photo Gallery*

The Lady Spartans continued their efforts at Utah Valley University for the 2018 UHSAA 3A Volleyball Championship. They previously won their games for the first round and the quarterfinals.

In the quarterfinals on Thursday, the Spartans’ first game was at 10:30 a.m. and they played the San Juan Broncos. They lost this match 3-0. The Broncos had the lead in the first set with 25-16. The Emery girls pushed forward for a better score in the second set but barely missed with a losing score of 27-25. In the third set, the first repeated itself with 25-16 as the score.

Emery’s next game was at 3:30 p.m. against the North Sanpete Hawks. This time, the girls took the win, 3-2. They won their first two sets with 25-13 in the first and 25-19 in the second. The Hawks advanced in the next two sets, scoring 25-17 for the third and 32-30 in the fourth set. In the fifth and final set, the Lady Spartans scored 15-6, taking the win for this match.

Congratulations to the Lady Spartans and their wins this last week at their championship. They took third in state after losing only one of their matches.
