Emery had a great showing at the 3A state tournament over the weekend, especially for a relatively young team.

Gus Dalton capped of a spectacular senior year by winning state in the 160 weight division. He went an eye-popping 48-2 over the season and was the top Dallarmur 3A All-Star in 160 in the state.

Freshman Bryon Christiansen, wrestling at 106, lost a heart breaker in overtime in the semis. He won his ensuing match to claim the third place spot and finished 61-5 in his first year at the high school level. Fellow freshman Jess Christiansen finished 28-11 on the year and fifth in the 106 class.

Junior Korby Christiansen also placed third in the 120 while Dwain Farley ended in fifth. Sophomore Bryar and Senior McKay Meccariello both took third place finishes in the 145 and 152 weight classes, respectively.

Braden Howard ended in forth in the 220 weight class. Sophomore Jarin Allen, senior Chase Christiansen and freshman Hayes Dalton ended in sixth in the 113, 138 and 170 weight classes, respectively.

As a team, Emery ended up third overall just behind Delta. Juab was awarded the top team in the tournament.

“It’s been a really fun year. We as coaches just want them all to know how proud of them we are,” said head coach Kirk Christiansen. “Years of hard work day after day, practice after practice, are paying off. The best part is watching boys become men.” He continued, “Heroes are those who conquer their own fear of failure and rise up to compete. Not when victory is a surety, but when it’s a possibility. These men are my heroes!”

Congratulations on a great season Emery wrestling!
