Carbon and Emery opened the wrestling season on Friday night in Price.
It was all Emery early as Monty Christiansen won by a 15-12 decision over Rawzyn Allred in 106. Merritt Meccariello pinned Trevor Jones in 26 seconds in the 113 weight class while Sid Christiansen got Eric Holt in just 10 seconds in 120. Byron Christiansen (126), Jarin Allen (132), Drake Mangum (138), Hunter Hopes (145) and Bryar Meccariello (152) all pinned their respective opponents for Emery.
The Dinos got the win in 160 when Philip Howa won by decision (9-2) over James Oveson. Tyler Stilson and Maddex Christman both got Emery back on track with pins in 170 and 182, respectively.
Kove Johansen matched the quickest pin of the night, 10 seconds, in 195 over Bradley Wood. Easton Horsley got the second and final win for Carbon with a 7-3 decision over Braden Howard in 220. Easton Thronley wrapped up the night with a pin for Emery in 285 as the Spartans blew out Carbon 69-6.
