The Lady Spartans met Richfield on the diamond on Tuesday. Emery was able to push one run across in each of the first two innings to gain early traction. The Lady Spartans then drove in two runs in the third and two more in the fourth for a commanding 6-0 lead.

Braileigh Clark pitched an excellent game, mowing down batters in the first four innings, and benefited from solid defense behind her. She ran into some trouble in the fifth when the Lady Wildcats loaded the bases with one out after scoring a run. Richfield then hit a single to make it 6-2 and were looking for more runs. Kaylee Price came in as relief and needed only three pitches to get out of the inning, inducing two consecutive pop outs. Richfield would not threaten again as Emery went on to win 8-3.

Clark pitched 4.1 innings, giving up one earned run while striking out five batters. Kaylee finished out the game with 2.2 innings of three hit ball, giving up one earned run and striking out two.

The Lady Spartans had 15 team hits and three walks in 30 total at bats. Mollee Hurst went 3-3 and Bailey Huggard went 3-4 with a double and two RBIs. Adrianne Childs also had two RBIs and scored twice by going 2-4. Ambree Bennett went 2-3 on the day with one RBI and two runs scored.

The Lady Spartans (5-1, 1-1 Region 15) hope to have a similar outcome when they head to Richfield on Thursday for a rematch against the Lady Wildcats (9-2, 2-1 Region 15).
