The Lady Spartans Seniors and their parents were honored Tuesday afternoon at Emery’s last home game of the season. The 2015 Seniors are Gentry Noyes, Taylor Payne, Jarica Huntington, Kambrie Hinkins, Ashton Bell and Amber Petersen.

The game started on time but there was about a 45 minute rain delay while the field dried out.

The bottom of the first saw the Lady Spartans take an early lead, 1-0. A solo blast by Taylor Payne started the inning off.

Duchesne went up for good in the fourth, scoring four runs on an RBI single and a two-run triple.

Emery scored two runs in the fourth inning and followed it up with two more in the sixth. In the fourth, the Spartans scored on a two-run home run by Ashton Bell, plating Payne.

Two of the Spartans runs were scored thanks to timely hitting by Bell. She singled in the first inning and homered in the fourth inning.

One run in the bottom of the seventh helped Emery close their deficit to 11-6. A solo home run by Kelsey Reeve set off the Emery Spartans rally. Emery fell to Duchesne 11-6 in seven innings.

Emery will travel to Spanish Fork to take on Enterprise Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. for the first round of the state tournament.
