The Emery Spartans suffered a disappointing senior night as the team fell to Grand, Region 15’s #1, on Tuesday.

Grand connected on two goals in the game, one each from Juan Gonzalez and Nolan Ramirez. The Spartans were not able to find the back of the net in the game, taking the 2-0 loss.

Emery rebounded to end the regular season on a good note as the team triumphed over Richfield on Thursday.

Both Emery and Richfield got on the board in the first half, going into the break tied 1-1. The Spartans stepped up in the second, notching two more and holding Richfield to a lone goal, to take the win. This is the second time this year Emery has beat the Richfield Wildcats by a one-goal margin.

Brock Winter recorded two goals for Emery while Abdul Ibrahim added a lone goal.

The Spartans finish the regular season winners of five games. The team took four losses and one tie in region play.

Emery will open the first round of the state tournament on the road Wednesday against Maeser Prep.
