Leading by six at the half and even after three quarters of play, the Emery Spartans were outscored by the South Sevier Rams 33-20 in the fourth quarter to take the 85-72 defeat in Monroe Friday night.

Emery was looking to avenge an 81-53 loss to the Rams in Castle Dale back on Jan. 5. The Spartans have gone 2-4 since then, currently holding on to fifth place in the Region 15 standings with just four games remaining.

Despite shooting 51% from the field (24-47), Emery couldn’t overcome a 30-6 run by the Rams in the second half. Easton Gordon had 23 points on 9-13 shooting, including a 3-5 clip from three. Kyson Stilson missed just once from the field (6-7, 8-9 fts) en route to 22 points. Cade Brazier was next with 12, all of which came on three pointers.

Emery (9-8, 3-5 Region 15) will travel to Mount Pleasant on Wednesday for a matchup with the Hawks (11-8, 3-6 Region 15). The game will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 6 at 7 p.m.
