Seven members from the Emery High Chapter of FFA and adviser Justin Thornley were privileged to attend the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind. The convention was Oct. 23-27.
The Milk Quality and Products Team, consisting of Dax Hall, Presely Bringhurst, Amanda Johansen and Aubreyona Migliori, were first place state winners in the Career Development Event. Leadership Development Event Prepared Public Speaking state winner Riata Christiansen also competed at the convention. The Judging team finished in the middle of the pack with a 21st place finish while Christiansen finished seventh out of 52 competitors. Nathan Urie, Danielle Johansen and Kacey Farnsworth also received the coveted American Farmer Degree.
Other chapter members attending the convention were Thomas Behling and Korby Christiansen. This was a first plane trip for many. All had the opportunity to visit Churchill Downs, Louisville Slugger Museum and the National FFA Headquarters during the trip. There are 600,000 members in the National FFA Association and 68,000 members were registered at the convention, a sea of blue jackets.
