The Emery Spartans hosted the first round of the 2A State soccer tourney on Wednesday by hosting the Summit Academy Bears.
Emery opened the game with a lead, leading 1-0 into the second half. Summit Academy, however, managed two in the second to put them over the Spartans and take the win.
As of press time, Emery sits second in the 2A Central Region standing with a region record of 9-3, behind Manti. Overall, the team finishes the year with 11 wins and five losses.
