Emery High Cross Country Battles at North Sevier

The Emery High cross country team recently competed at North Sevier. The boys competed against North Sevier and Manti while the girls competed against the aforementioned teams as well as South Sevier. Both teams came in third with the girls tying with South Sevier.

“It was just a really hot day for the kids and the course was pretty hilly,” coach Kristy Guymon explained. “But we did see a lot of kids step up and we are having some good grouping going on with our boy’s team.”

Ty Funk led the boy’s team with a finish of 19:57 followed by Wyatt Cox at 21:23. Funk finished seventh overall in the boy’s competition.

The girl’s team was led by freshman Erin Hurst at 23:04 and Tarryn Parkins at 26:54. Hurst finished third overall in the girl’s race.

The teams will compete at home on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 4 p.m. The race will begin at Emery Aquatic Center with the boy’s team. The girls will start ten minutes later.
