Emery High Drama Celebrates Second Place Win at State Competition

Members of the Emery High Drama class held a celebration on Thursday afternoon to recognize their second place 2A State win. The Spartans lost to Manti by two points for the second year in a row. Emery scored 290 points just below Manti’s 292 and above Rockwell High’s 280 points.

The state tournament was held in Richfield with Mr. Peacock as tournament director. Their contest play was one of three receiving superior ratings. Caroline Gardner  was first in dramatic reading followed by teammate Liz Nielsen in third. Darren Willson and Aaron Oliverson were first in scenes and Landon Fairbanks and Thomas Behling placed third in that category.

Jadree Huntington and partner Simone Burton tied with Linda Taylor and Samantha Morgan for fourth in pantomime. Peyton Jeffs was sixth in humorous reading. Micah Bass was fourth and Caroline Gardner seventh in musical theatre. Best Actress of the tournament honors went Julia Doria.
