Dinos Get Huge Victory at Darrell Gardner Invite, Emery Comes in Second *Photo Gallery*

The Carbon Dinos had 14 first place finishes at the Darrell Gardner Invitational Tuesday afternoon en route to an overall top showing. The Emery Spartans were right behind with eight firsts, coming in second. Pinnacle also participated, notching 19 points for a sixth place finish out of eight teams.

Carbon’s Jordyn Oman led her team with three firsts, finishing ahead of competitors in the 100, 200 and 400-meter races. Spartan sprinter Logan cox was equally dominant on the boys’ side, placing first in the same categories as Oman. Carbon’s Sara Morley (first in discus and shot put) and Emery’s Paytn Jeffs (first in long jump and high jump) each nabbed two second place finishes.

Misty Bingham from Pinnacle earned her team six points in the 400 meters by placing third, the team’s best showing during the meet.

Emery: Chase Christiansen, second in 3200 meters. Camrey Johnson, second in 300-meter hurdles, third in 100 hurdles. Bayler Griffin, second in 100 meters, second in 200 meters. Erin Hurst, first in 1600 meters. Ty Funk, second in 800 meters, third in 1600 meters. Morgan Hurdsman, second in 400 meters. Daryl Guymon, second in 300-meter hurdles. Girls’ sprint medley, second. Josie Funk, third in 200 meters. Boys’ 4×400, third. Skyler Sitterud, third in javelin. Tyler Olsen, first in high jump, second in long jump. Raymond Brazier, second in high jump, second in javelin. Chase Jewkes, first in javelin. Ty Mecham, second in shot put.

Carbon will have a quick turnaround, as it will travel to Fillmore for the Old Capitol Invite at Millard High School on Saturday. Pinnacle and Carbon will both participate in the Blue Mountain Invitational on April 23 in Blanding. On the same day, Emery will compete in Gunnison at the Gunnison Valley Invitational.
