Nathan Urie from Emery’s rodeo team finished third in saddle bronc riding at the Emery High School Rodeo held in Castle Dale on Saturday. Austin Allred also placed in the top ten bull riders with fourth place.
In steer wrestling, Carbon’s Gus Christensen finished 10th. Morgan Jensen, a fellow Carbon Dino, placed sixth in the barrel racing and Afton McCourt, also a Dino, was fifth in breakaway roping. Spartan Louie Ivie was sixth in tie down roping. In the trap shoot competition two Carbon team members, Kyler Magann and Jordon Pierce, placed sixth and seventh, respectively.
As is customary at each rodeo, the senior members were honored and presented buckles. A total of 12 seniors received these honors including Jed Kofford, Ty Gordon, Ivie, Allred, McKoy Christiansen, Urie, Makayla Jensen, Danielle Johansen, Taylor Wilstead, Tyler Olsen, Kaitlin Randall and Cheyanne Winn.
Principal Davis was also presented with an honorary team buckle for his support. To finish off the evening, Stock contractors Mascaro’s presented the rodeo team a trophy for 30 years of working together.
