In the final home game of the regular season, the Lady Spartans geared up to face Richfield. Before the first serve, Emery honored its three seniors, Kaymn Childs, Bralin Wilde and Kaejha Johnson for their hard work and dedication to the program.
Then it was game time. Emery got off to a quick start and took the first set 25-18. The Lady Wildcats immediately answered back with a 25-17 second-set win. Both teams were looking for the edge in the third set, but it was Richfield that went up 25-23. The Spartans needed the fourth set to keep the contest going and again it was close. The teams matched each other point for point until it was tied up at 24. Unfortunately, the Lady Wildcats grabbed the next two points and secured the victory, 3-1.
Emery (11-12) was awarded the eight seed in the 3A State tournament and will host 9 Delta (9-9) this Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Spartan Center. The playoff match will be streamed live on ETV Channel 6 and online at etvnews.com/livesports.
