A road game opened the season for the Emery Lady Spartans on Thursday. The team traveled to Cyprus where the Spartans took a commanding 6-1 win against the Pirates.
Emery warmed up in the first half, notching two goals and allowing one to take the 2-1 lead at the break. The Spartans exploded in the second, adding four more to the board and keeping Cyprus scoreless.
Alexis Winter led Emery with three goals. Morgan Hurdsman added two and Shelbee Murdoch rounded out the scoring with a goal of her own.
The team had a quick turnaround as the Spartans traveled to take on Ben Lomond on Friday. The game didn’t end in Emery’s favor as the team took the 4-1 loss.
Teryn Allred scored the lone goal for the Spartans in the second half, but it was not enough to pull out the win.
The team will continue the young season on Tuesday with its first home game. The Spartans will host Payson in Castle Dale with kickoff at 4 p.m.
