It was a tied game for the Spartans until the third inning when the Gunnison Bulldogs hit one of their three runs during the faceoff en route to taking the victory 3-0.
Despite a home court advantage, the Spartans weren’t able to hit any runs.
Spartans Race Nielsen and Zach Jorgensen each made their appearance on the mound, with Jorgensen striking out six Bulldogs and Nielsen three.
Emery currently sits at third in the 2A East region standing, after Gunnison and Grand with a 6-4 region record. The team is scheduled to face off against a presently undetermined opponent on Saturday, May 6 at Kanab.
