Going into the second matchup of the season with Emery on Thursday, the Lady Dinos had clinched the Region 12 title and won 13 straight games. The Lady Spartans were hungry to show Carbon what they were made of and scored twice in the opening half to go into the midway point up 2-0.
Carbon broke through in the second half with a pair of goals, but Emery added one more score to break Carbon’s winning streak and beat the Lady Dinos 3-2. Spartan sophomores Nya Parkens and Aspen Hansen scored in the contest with the former finding the net twice and the latter once. Carbon’s Katie Marshall and Ryan Brady each had a goal apiece.
The two teams will look to gear up for the state soccer tournament, which begins on Oct. 12.
