Emery Rodeo Team Gears Up For State Finals *Photo Gallery*

The Wasatch Events Center Arena was the venue for the both the Wasatch #1 and Wasatch #2 rodeos on May 7 and 8. Emery team members scoring in the top ten on Friday, May 7 included Byron Christiansen, first in barebacks, fourth in tie down roping and eighth in reining cow; Kayson Jensen, second in barebacks; and Zeek Weber, first in reining cow.

On Saturday, Kinlie Jensen was ninth and Abbie McElprang 10th in girls’ breakaway roping. Weber scored seventh in tie down roping with Christiansen in third and Kayson Jensen in fourth in the bareback competition.

In the shooting sports, also held in Heber City, Ryter Ekker was third and seventh in the rifle shoot while Ruger Payne was first in the trap shoot at Wasatch #2. Junior high shooting is held at the same time and Kyle Ekker earned fifth both days and Wyatt Fox took sixth at both shoots in the light rifle.

The last weekend of rodeos will be sponsored by the West Millard Club on May 14 and 15 in Delta. There will be a week off for both the junior high and high school teams before the state finals.

The junior high state finals will be the last week of May while the high school state finals will be the week of June 7-12. Both of these state competitions will be at the Wasatch County Events Center in Heber City.
