Emery played San Juan on Tuesday in an action-packed, extra-inning game.

It was 2-2 entering the last inning when Taleigh Price hit a RBI double to put the Lady Spartans ahead. Emery couldn’t keep its lead as San Juan tied the game at 3 with two outs in the bottom half of the inning to force extras.

As a rule, a runner gets placed on second base to begin each half inning once the game goes into extras. Autumn Stilson produced a RBI single followed by Shyanne Jensen’s double that scored Stilson. The Lady Spartans were held to two runs after a couple of outs were made on the base paths. But again, Emery could not hold on to the lead. The Lady Broncos added two runs of their own to go into the ninth.

It was Emery’s turn to rally with two outs and it went up 6-5. The Lady Spartans were once again an out away from a win when San Juan tied the game. Emery scored again with two outs in the 10th on Adrianne Childs’ hit to go up 7-6.

The Lady Spartans just could not capitalize on their opportunities. The Lady Broncos scored two runs in the bottom of the 10th for the win. Childs led the team going 4-6 with two RBIs.
