Emery Sneaks Past South Sevier

Emery tennis hosted South Sevier on Tuesday.

Jordan Wolford won her match in first singles 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. Morgan Hughes lost a close first set 4-6 then swept the second set 6-0 only to fall in the last set 1-6 for a loss. Carlie Bennett bounced back for the Lady Spartans with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 win.

In doubles, Jessie Nicholson and Haley Guymon nearly pulled out the win in the second set after winning the first set 6-1, but lost in the tiebreaker 6-7. The duo lost their match with a third set defeat 4-6. With the score tied at two, Megan Hess and Shaylee Grange came through for the Lady Spartans with a 6-3, 7-5 win to help Emery take the 3-2 victory over South Sevier.

Emery will have a two-week break until they take on Gunnison at home on Sept. 17.
