The Emery Spartans beat the visiting Wasatch Academy Tigers Tuesday afternoon, and did it by a margin not seen in at least the past 13 years. The Spartans ran away with a 30-0 win to remain undefeated on the season.
The Spartans had 12 extra-base hits in the game. Gavin McDermott led Emery with two triples, giving him four on the season, best in 2A. Tel Gardner notched a double and a triple as well. Ridge Nielson picked up the win on the mound, improving his record to 2-0.
Emery led 17-0 after two innings and pushed across 13 more in the third to round out the scoring. The game lasted just five innings. In nine games thus far, Emery has outscored its opponents by a combined score of 116-18, including 67-4 in Region 15 action.
The number-one ranked Spartans (9-0, 4-0 Region 15) will play at South Sevier (4-8, 1-5 Region 15) on Tuesday.
