*Update* *Photo Gallery* Emery Volleyball Finishes in Seventh Place with Loss to Beaver

Emery’s volleyball season came to an end on Saturday. The Spartans tournament run ended with a loss to Beaver. Emery was only able to take one set in the final match of the day. Final scores were 25-16, 25-17, 21-25 and 25-22 in favor of Beaver.

The Spartans took a four-set win over Grand earlier in the day to move on to a chance at a fifth place finish in the tournament. The scores for  Emery and Grand were  25-16, 25-17, 21-25 and 25-22.

Friday, South Summit forced Emery to five sets before they beat them to move on in the tournament. Emery lost set one 20-25 before coming back with two wins. But South Summit dominated set four to force the deciding set. Emery was up 13-8 when South Summit found their groove and finished the match with a 17-15 victory.

Emery started Friday with a victory over Layton Christian Academy for a spot in the second round game of the state high school volleyball tournament with a four-set win. The scores were 25-16, 25-19, 22-25 and 27-25. Emery led off with a fairly easy win in set one but played from behind in set two before coming back for the victory. The Spartans were looking like they would sweep the match when Layton Christian came from behind to take the third set. The fourth set looked like it might be a repeat of the third as Layton Christian had Emery on the ropes for the final set point, but the Spartans came back to secure the win
