The state golf tournament was hosted at Meadow Brook Golf Course in Taylorsville on Monday and Tuesday. The Emery Spartans played well during the tournament, according to coach Kevin Reynolds.
The team shot their best score of the season to make the cut during the first day of competition. This ensured that they were able to continue to play during the second day. Ultimately, Emery ended the tournament in eighth place.
Coach Reynolds remarked that the best performance was by team member Oakley Toomer, who ended in second place and shot a one under par, 71, on the first day and a one over par, 73, on the second for a total score of even par, 144.
The state title went to Nathan Preslor of Morgan who was able to shoot one under par, 143. Subsequently, Morgan also won the overall team title by a 40-stroke margin.
