Emery High Boys and Girls Swim Teams Capture 2A State Titles *Photo Gallery*

The Emery High boys and girls swim teams both captured the 2A state title on Thursday. The teams competed against a slew of swimmers at Brigham Young University.

At the end of 22 rounds of competition, the Spartans swept the standings to secure the title. The Lady Spartans finished with a total of 268.5 points. Grand High School followed in second place with 211.5 points while North Summit finished in third with 199 points.

In the boys division, the Spartans also cruised to a state title scoring 266 points. North Summit finished in second place with 241 points and Rowland Hall placed third with 140.5 points.

Laryssa Guymon captured first place honors in the 100 yard butterfly. Madi Allinson claimed a first place win in the 200 yard individual medley race and Chyanne Carter touched the wall first in the 200 yard freestyle competition. The Lady Spartan 400 yard freestyle relay team also secured top honors in their event.

On the boys side, only the Emery 200 yard medley relay team finished in first place. Several second and third place times however, added up quickly and boosted the team to their first place overall team finish.

News of Emery’s state title win quickly spread and a slew of community members gathered to greet the team when the arrived home Thursday evening. The Spartan coaches thanked the police and fire fighters for the escort home and for all the support from the community.
