Even though the Spartan wrestling team only lost two matches in Tuesday night’s duel, the team was edged out by Gunnison, 42-33.
The Spartans had five weight classes with no qualified wrestlers to compete. Spartans pinned six of the Gunnison Bulldogs and won one match by decision in overtime, 4-2.
Spartans pinning their opponents were Korby Christiansen (106), Chase Christiansen (120), Zac World (126), Newt Oveson (160), Duke Curtis (220), and Ty Mecham (285). Mckay Mecceriello (132) won by decision in overtime, 4-2.
The Emery High team will continue action this weekend at a tournament in Duchesne.
