Emery Track Shines at State, Carbon Struggles

Emery Track and Field finished fourth out of 19 total 2A teams at the UHSAA track championships at BYU over the weekend. Carbon finished aВ disappointing 19th of 24 3A teams.

Freshman Ashlynn Allred and junior Brendon Jorgensen took home individual state titles for the Spartans in the 200 meters and 300-meter hurdles, respectively. Allred also finished second in the 100 and fourth in the long jump. Emery’s 4×400 team consisting of Jessica Guymon, Blayr Jeffs, Hanna Dyer, and Hailee Rogers, finished second to North Summit. The Girl’s medley relay placed fifth.

Carbon’s Dalton Nelson, a senior, finished fourth in the long jump. Senior Regan Powell finished fifth in the 800 meters. Junior Jordan Blanc finished sixth in the 100. Boy’s medley relay consisting of Garret Marsing, Justin Hepworth, Colton England, Luke Olsen, and Dallin Quinton, placed sixth.
