Emery took advantage of an early first quarter Canyon View fumble and Spartans Marco Mota was able to score a long rushing touchdown to give Emery the early lead. The Falcons answered back with a long passing touchdown with seven minutes to go in the first. Emery was able to score again in the first on a five yard run by Mota. Canyon View was able to connect on a 45 yard passing play and scored the two point conversion making the score Emery 21 Canyon View 14 with 4:39 left in the half. Emery struck back with a huge run by Mota and after the play Falcon number 25 was ejected from the game. With 59 seconds left in the half Emery’s Matthew Mecham scored on a five yard rushing play. Mecham also had an impressive interception with 49 seconds to go in the half. Emery was held scoreless in the third. Mota had another rushing touchdown with 5:27 in the fourth. Emery’s Gavin McDermott was able to connect with Austin Allred on the two point passing conversion play to give the Spartans a 36-20 lead. The Falcons didn’t give up and intercepted the ball and scored on a long passing play with 4:16 left in the game. Emery ended up with the ten point win after a hard fought battle.
