Emery Wrestlers Impressive at State 2A Duals

The Emery Spartan wrestlers competed at the State 2A Duals held at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield on Friday and Saturday. They finished fourth in Division B of the tournament. They also finished seventh in overall points out of total of 16 teams.

Team scores for the ten rounds are:

Round 1 – Delta 64, Emery 3

Round 2 – Emery 66, Grand 18

Round 3 – Emery 64, Kanab 25

Round 4 – Emery 53, Enterprise 17

Round 5 – Beaver 54, Emery 25

Round 6 – North Summit 48, Emery 33

Round 7 – Emery 66, San Juan 12

Round 8 – Millard 57, Emery 16

Round 9 – North Sevier 51, Emery 25

Round 10 – Emery 54, Gunnison 25.

With no wrestlers in the 182- and 195-lb weight classes, Emery’s opponents automatically received 12 points in each dual.

Other notes from the duals:

McKay Meccariello wrestled varsity at 126 lbs. as a fill-in for Kanab High School and had a 7-2 record.

Junior varsity wrestlers also took part in the duals. Results are as follows:

Dax Hall (106 lbs.), fourth place with 4-3 record

Lon Huntsman (152 lbs.), seventh place with a 3-6 record

Zac Rachelle (170 lbs.), sixth place with a 3-3 record and then had to forfeit because of an injury.
