The Emery Spartan Baseball team’s offensive prowess was on clear display at home yesterday, as the team pummeled their opponent, the North Sanpete Hawks, by a score of 21-0.
The Spartans rebounded in a huge way from their Friday loss to Juab, by blasting 14 hits in the game, coming out of the gates to a six-run lead after the first inning, and stretching that lead to 21, before the game was called in the fifth.
Six of the Emery players slapped extra-base hits, with Curtis Mason, Geren Payne, Nathan Mecham, Tanner Ewell and Tappan Draper hitting doubles in the game, Mecham adding a triple, and Gage Bell topping the performance off with a home run.
Emery’s offensive output was bolstered by strong pitching. Allowing only one hit in the game, Mecham brought his pitching record to 2-1 on the year.
The win evened the Spartan’s region record to 2-2. Their next game will be at Delta on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
