The Emery High Spartan football team fell to 2-2 in 2A North Region play with a 36-27 loss at Millard on Friday.

After falling behind by 21 points in the first quarter, Emery rallied to outscore Millard 27-15 over the rest of the game. The Spartans just couldn’t overcome their slow start.

Spencer Labrum linked up with David Dyer on a 10-yard pass for Emery’s first touchdown. Jesse Winn scored on runs of five and one yard, and Jared Shakespeare punched in a two-yard, fourth-quarter run to cap off Emery’s scoring.

Winn’s touchdowns gave him seven over the past three games.

Emery sits in a three-way, third-place tie with North Summit and South Summit in the 2A North Region.

Emery next hosts Gunnison live on ETV Channel 10 on Friday at 7 p.m.
