Friday marked a special night for Emery High and head coach Todd Jeffs. The Spartans came out on the attack against South Summitt and quickly went up 20-5 after the first quarter. Emery shot the lights out as the team went 55 percent from the field, including 50 percent from beyond the arc (14-28). The ending was never in doubt once the Spartans got up and they comfortably went on to win 78-60.
Justin Rassmussen led the way with 18 points followed by Brax Jensen (15), Jordan Ekker (14) and Seth Justice (14). Jensen logged another double-double with 10 assists on the night while Ekker had a team-high seven rebounds and four steals.
With the win, Jeffs notched his 500th win as the head coach of Emery. He is 500-235 midway through his 32nd year at the helm of the Spartans.
Congratulations to Coach Jeffs and his family for the many dedicated years of hard work and success.
Emery (6-2) will be back on the court on Jan. 4 at Gunnison Valley (6-4).
