Drilling on the Emma Park Well number two is complete.
The target depth of 2300 feet was reached. The drill cuttings and drill hole conditions were studied and evaluated by an engineering consultant, geologist and geo-physical logger.
A duel tube method followed by a rotary mud method of drilling was used. While drilling there were encouraging well conditions; however, as the rotary mud method progressed, there was no indication of water coming from the well and combing with drill mud.
The temperature readings down the drill hole did not indicate flowing water. The lower rock formations were very dense and while the drill cuttings showed some rock fractures they were calcified or plugged up preventing the flow of any water. No water was found in the well.
The City has decided to abandon the well. Steps are being taken to plug the drill hole and reclaim the well site.
