Braving the heat, visitors from near and far gathered at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church to celebrate the church’s annual Greek Festival Days over the weekend. The event is hosted each summer in July and draws big crowds every year.
While many attend for the delectable Greek dishes and beverages, many come to catch up with old friends and participate in the various activities hosted during the two-day celebration. Greek dancing, raffle drawings, rounds of bingo and a performance from the Chris Dokos Band were in the mix amongst a wide variety of entertainment.
Father Serathim Johns was pleased with the outcome of the event and was seen amongst the crowds, greeting festival goers and giving tours of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church that has resided in Carbon County for the last 102 years.
The two-day event is highly anticipated throughout the community, raising funds for future events and for the church. No one leaves the festival without a full stomach and some extra pastries to go.
