On May 5, Creekview Elementary hosted a party for ESL (English Second Language) students and their families. There was a pot luck dinner and a program presented by children as well as adults wearing authentic costumes and presenting cultural dances.
This is the third activity this year for ESL families throughout the district to get together with other families. The hope is that the program gives families an opportunity to interact with each other and develop friendships.
According to Creekview Elementary Secretary Christi Jardine, the evening was well attended.
“The food was delicious and everyone seemed to enjoy visiting and watching the program,” she explained. “It was wonderful to see that our Hispanic students and families are working to keep their heritage alive.”
