In the seventh round of the Emery School District spelling bee, Addie Miller of Canyon View Middle School out spelled the others and received the first place trophy. Bryndli Stevens, Ferron Elementary, placed second and Jesse Tuttle, Huntington Elementary, finished third.

Nineteen participants were chosen district wide to participate by placing first in their grade level at their respective schools, grades fourth through eighth.

Judges for the event were Carrie Allred, Diane Carter and Emery County District Elementary Supervisor Ralph Worthen. These top three finishers qualified to participate in the region spelling bee on March 8 at Green River High School. Top finishers from Carbon, Grand and San Juan school districts will also compete against these top Emery spellers.
