Canyon View and San Rafael Middle Schools performed their combined holiday choir concert at the Emery High auditorium on Monday evening. Starting the evening was the combined sixth grade choirs singing “The Christmas Tree” and “A Carol Tapestry” conducted by Ben Carroll. Then, David Bird led as they sang “Christmas in Killarney,” during which a violin solo featured Charly Cordner.

The seventh grade choirs then took the stage and favored the audience with “Angels’ Choir,” “Angels Led to Bethlehem” and “Light.” The combined eighth grade choirs then sang “Sweet Holy Child” and “Let There Be Peace,” which featured a girls’ trio of Jessamyn Ashby, Cheyenne Bingham and Amy Sorensen. The final song by the eighth grade was “Coventry Carol.”

The seventh and eight grade combined choirs then sang “All Around The World Tonight.” The choir was positioned around the auditorium with candles during this final number and the house lights were off. The middle school choirs were accompanied by Jennifer Fauver.

The Emery High choir students then took to the stage, beginning with the bass and tenor men’s choir singing “You Are Mean One, Mr. Grinch” accompanied by Madison Thomas. They then sang “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” as Merilee Cox served as their accompanist for the remainder of the evening. The soprano and alto choir then came to the risers and performed “Christmas Lullaby” and “Winter Lullaby.”

The mixed choir for Emery High then sang “At Twilight,” “We Three Kings of Orient Are,” “ One Bright Star,” “Grown Up Christmas List,” “Bell Carol of The King” and “Shine for Me Again Star of Bethlehem.” The evening ended with the traditional “One Bright Star” sang in a darkened room surrounding the audience with carolers holding a bright light.  The harmony was excellent throughout the evening and was appreciated by an auditorium filled with friends and family.
