Southeast Utah Health Department Press Release

Question: Will this remove current social distancing guidelines?

No. We will continue to vigorously promote current social distancing guidelines. Certain businesses that have been closed will have the opportunity to implement plans that contain controls such as wearing masks, sanitizing and dealing with a limited number of clients. These controls might allow these businesses to open on a limited basis. Each plan will be reviewed.

Question: Are there changes to lodging restrictions?

No. Current restrictions will remain in place until at least May 4. Nevertheless, a lodging facility also needs to prepare a plan that would allow them to maintain good social distancing practices when the time comes that they do reopen. The main reason the original letter was published was to give lodging facilities time to contact individuals that have reservations beginning after April 15.

Question: Will Southeast Utah be open on May 4?

No. However, it is important for the public to know that everyone affected by this pandemic must plan ahead for the time when Southeast Utah begins to open and to know that we are prepared for it to be a controlled and reasonable process. AS OF TODAY, WE DO NOT KNOW THE DATE THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN, BUT WHENEVER THAT DAY COMES, WE DO NOT WANT TO BE UNPREPARED. There are multiple factors that will go into that decision, including transmission rates, local caseload, statewide caseload, regional caseload, national caseload and availability of continued testing.
