Ferron City Council recognized two citizens with special awards at a council meeting on Wednesday.

First, the Ferron City Citizen Recognition Award was presented to Stephanie Chamberlain. Chamberlain was recognized for her more than willing to help attitude and cooperation in Ferron. She has chaired and helped with several Peach Day activities, including the dessert contest. Stephanie and her husband, Mark, live in Ferron, where she is an employee of Desertview Federal Credit Union.

“We wanted to thank Stephanie for always being willing and ready to lend a hand to anyone who needs it,” said city recorder Shala Hunsaker.

Next, the Ferron City Employee of the Quarter award was given to Rick Price. Price is native of Ferron and has been on the maintenance crew for the city for two years. He is married to Wendy and they reside in Ferron.

“Rick is willing and ready to do whatever is needed without even being asked,” Hunsaker said. “He is a hard worker and we are very grateful to him.”

Also at the meeting, it was brought to the mayor and council’s attention that more names have been found that need to be included on the veteran’s monument recently installed in the Ferron City Mayor’s Park. Clifford Snow and Stanley Hess reported an additional 15 names have been found that need to be added to the monument.

These names will soon be added to the monument, which is already home to more than 550 names. Snow and Hess are also considering adding more lighting to the monument area for better viewing.

The duo would like anyone else who maybe know of another name that needs to be added to please contact Ferron City Hall as soon as possible.
