Ferron Welcomes Annual Southeastern Utah Junior Livestock Show

The grand champion market steer by Preslee Orto of Payson sold for $3,600.

The Southeastern Utah Junior Livestock Show once again made its way to Ferron last week as young competitors paraded before judges.

The show attracts people from throughout Utah and surrounding states. On Saturday morning, the auctioning of the best animals took place. Gilts, steer, barrows, goats and lambs were all brought out one by one, giving the audience a chance to make their bid.

The grand campion gilt by Nishay Snow of Vernal sold for $1,200 while the reserve champion gilt by Millie Jeffs of Benjamin, UT sold for $3,000. The grand champion barrow by Kadi Smith of Venice, UT sold for $500 as did the reserve champion barrow by Sierra Cappo of Grantsville.

The grand champion market steer by Preslee Orto of Payson sold for $3,600. The reserve champion steer by Quaid Wride of Benjamin, UT sold for $4,300.

The grand champion market lamb by Laken Larsen of Central Valley, UT sold for $1,600 while the reserve champion by Jentri Braithwaite of Mapleton, UT sold for $2,150.

The grand champion market goat by Haylie McArthur of Huntington sold for $2,100. The reserve champion market goat by Jaston Willoughby of Heber sold for $1,600.
