(UPDATED Fri. 8:30 a.m.) Fiery Wreck Closes Canyon

Law enforcement and emergency services personnel responded to a semi-truck accident near Milepost 256 near Indian Canyon on Highway 191 after receiving a distress call at approximately 2 p.m. Thursday.

The driver, 51-year-old Bryan Ames, Bluebell, Utah, was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.

Initial reports indicate the vehicle rolled and burst into flames. Large smoke plumes were visible from the mouth of Indian Canyon.

Initial responders reported seeing a black, liquid material floating down the river.

The truck was allegedly traveling south on the highway when it crossed into the northbound lane and rolled down the hill.

Utah Highway Patrol, Helper City Police, Price City Police, Carbon County Sheriff, Carbon County EMT and Carbon County HAZMAT personnel responded to the call.
