First Friday Bids Farewell to the Dog Days of Summer

As September began, the community started to bid farewell to the summer season and prepare for the falling leaves, chilly temperatures and all that encompasses fall. As a way to honor the summer, Helper’s First Friday for September paid tribute with the Dog Days of Summer.

Many canine friends and family members walked Main Street with attendees, usually donned in costume. In conjunction with the theme, Canvas Alchemy hosted Jennifer Lott Lopez, who gave a brief training session where she answered grooming and behavior questions along with demonstrations.

The Helper Hub also hosted a dog costume and dog trick contest with prizes for the animals as well as their owners. Youngsters were welcomed into Three Little Llamas to make their own dog ears and doggie treats. A dog parade rounded out the four-legged themed fun.

Gallery strolls, community input on a new project and food vendors were also hosted throughout the evening.
