Five-Run Fifth Boosts Panthers

Pinnacle was in Hurricane on Friday to play Diamond Ranch Academy (DRA). The Diamondbacks scratched in an early run in the first inning to take the lead. Pinnacle answered in the second with two runs to go on top 2-1.

With the same score in the fifth inning, the Panthers scored five insurance runs to take a commanding lead. They held on to win 7-3 over DRA.

Stetson Motte (3-4 with two RBIs), Mikey Vigil (4-4 with one RBI) and Michael Schmitz (4-4 with two doubles and two runs) all had great days at the plate. Laden Hardy and Jake Ellington each added two RBIs in the contest.

Rylee Smith picked up the win and went 6.1 innings while giving up two runs (zero earned) on four hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.

The Panthers (4-11) will head to Piute (12-4) on Wednesday and will then be home for senior night against Bryce Valley (7-9) on Friday.
