The Emery County Sheriff’s Office would like to advise motorists to use caution while traveling through Straight Canyon for the next few days. The weather forecast throughout Tuesday and Wednesday calls for thunderstorms and with the already saturated ground, there is a chance that more rock slides may occur in the canyon.
On Monday evening at approximately 6:30 p.m., crews were called out to a rock slide up Straight Canyon in Joes Valley. The heavy rain caused flooding that triggered a rock slide. State Road 29 and Cottonwood Canyon are closed while crews clean up the debris. The Cottonwood Creek is running very high through Orangeville and Castle Dale.
The Emery County Sheriff’s Office advises everyone to use caution around the river for the next few hours. Check back to etv10news.com for updates on the road closures.
