New entree, Country Fried Steak, sampled by secondary students received a resounding “Yes!” to be added to the menu cycle recently. The Carbon Child Nutrition Program sent commodity beef to be processed into tender and flavorful cube steaks. They were then covered with whole-grain breading to seal in the juices.
For our first offering, we paired it with brown gravy to enhance the beef flavor profile. Also served with creamy mashed potatoes, it was a great way to introduce a hearty new meal!
