Food for Thought: Come Join Our 200 Million Served

By Patti Rigby Carbon, School District Child Nutrition Director

We know children need healthy meals all year long. Our summer food service program meets the need through federal funding and state administration. All kids are welcome and so far this summer we have served 400 children daily. We would love to see that number doubled. This funding benefits our child nutrition department and allows us to afford and update our kitchen equipment.

On the national level, USDA plans to serve more than 200 million free summer meals to children 18 years and under at approved sites.

We look forward to having lunch with you at Bruin Point Elementary Monday through Thursday, Castle Valley Center Monday thruough Friday or Sally Mauro Elementary Monday through Thursday.  See you then!
